So the opera is done! Finally...It was fun and we put on a good show, but its just so ridiculously tiring. Especially since the second last week where we had tons of extra opera rehearsal on top of the normal 12 hours per week we also had choir intensive..Im still a little drained. So a few pictures from opera must be posted...

#1 CHARLIES ANGEL NUNS...because...well..ya

and also..as I was a bat..I had to do the bat boy dance..in the costume...

tee hee..there are more on facebook...good times.

and now i need to either go to bed..or type up vocal ped stuff...bed seems to be winning in my brain....

One show down, the cast and crew were phenomenal, the whole thing went so well, (with the tiny exception of a moment of weird feedback and the fact that the fog machine tricked me into thinking it was on when it wasn't....) I'm really enjoying the fact that I'm onstage a little bit too...I'm really glad that we thought to give me that little cameo, it is my last year and Its sort of fun being and actor/techie/director. Good times. Highlight of pre show preparations: Michelle sewing leaves onto kens crotch for half an hour. So very very funny.
I'm so excited to do it again tomorow!! after some sleeeeep!

So Apparently Friday the 13th is actually a lucky day for me. I had a decent skills class, followed by a decent lesson with Heidi that I wasn't really prepared for, but it wasn't terrible. Then I went to health services where the Doctor told me that the horrible burning pains that had been in my chest/throat were probably not going to kill me, which ws good news. Then I had a really great rehearsal. The cast was awesome, the song sounds great, there is a lot of good character stuff going on. I'm getting really excited about the show again. Then we had a little singalong, with Brenden playing from my stephen Schwartz book and I realized I know almost no stephen schwartz songs that aren't in wicked. or not well enough to sing them with no rehearsal. After some tasty yogen fruz Meagan decided we should have an impromptu shopping trip. She needed sweaters, I needed a coat. All goals were met! Both of the coats I wanted were both super expensive and super on sale! Yay for super on sale coats! I really love the one I ended up buying! Meagan is a fabulous shopping buddy! I also got a hoodie, a thin one though, and a green tank top. Yay! Tomorow will be spent doing copious homework, corset shopping, eating spagetti and watching a concert! yay!

Today is the day of BAT BOY AUDITIONS!!! Tonight we have the first of two audition days. I'm really excited. I'm one of those bizzare people who actually enjoys auditioning, either as a person actually auditioning, or as a person on the panel. Im really hoping that everyone that auditions is fantastic, although with something like 50 people signed up, we're going to be cutting almost half. That sucks. I hate cutting people. Thats the nice thing about Camp shows, is that you have to figure out a way for little tone-deaf johnny to be featured in the show. However, it's also fantastic to be able to only hire the really truly awesome people. Yay! I picked all of the callback readings today, so those should be posted soon. I'm looking forward to callbacks, I love this whole process, casting a show...it makes you all excited about the show. We had our meeting in the TA (theatre auditiorium)and I'm really excited. At this point they are encouraging us to 'ask for the moon' and then we'll see what we can work out budget and time wise. But im 99% for sure going to get my bridge/cave, so I'm really excited about that. I would also love a tazer (EDIT: tee hee...I meant hazer..but a tazer would be fun too!), and a fog machine and gobos and coloure lights....*squeeee*. And we have a tech director (Shawn) who apparently really knows what he's doing and is also really excited about what we can do! yay!!

AHHHHH!! my magnet/whiteboard just fell off my wall and attacked me. That was really scary, it made a big crashing noise and woke brenden up...ooops.

In other news...Opera is starting to frustrate me. I practice and I can do it. Then I go to rehearsal and sound like a big no-talent loser who can't even match pitch. The Weill (particularly the first chunk) is really really frustrating. I'm trying so hard to be able to hear my part, but I just can't. gah. I guess more drilling will help, but I hate not being able to do it in rehearsal. I need to find a recording. 'Marriage of Figaro' is a little better because I can actually find at least a note in the right chord if not my note. Angela and I did pretty well in rehearsal for that tonight, the only problem is that it goes SO fast...its hard to spit out all the words! Oh well. 'Rusalka' isn't that bad. Im the alto again...(Elf #3) but at least the music is really cool. Its in Czech, which is a little odd since I know pretty much nothing about Czech, but still cool. 'Lousie' is the last one. I'm playing Blanche, which is a lot of little solo lines. (realy little, like, three words at a time) and then some group singing and THANK GOD! I get to sing sopraono in that one. hoorah!!

All right bedtime for me....
*note to self...make eye doctor appointment for the sixth...

The opera excerpts have been (at least partially) cast. There are supposedly two or three more coming, but I'm thinking I probably wont have a part in those as I already have two parts. So, after much anticipation for the cast list to come out, I was Cast as Marcellina in the act two finale of the Marriage of Figaro and Mrs. Olga Olsen in a chunk from the beginning of Kurt Weill's "Street Scene". Which is great...so, then I go look at my music....These are NOT soprano roles. Marcellina is a mezzo, which is fine, I just don't have any fun high notes, which I can totally deal with (I'm hoping I get a fun dress to make up for it!!). But Mrs. Olsen is an alto. LOL. Its SO low, with the exception of the first paragraph of "I'll never Tell" it's the lowest I've ever sung on stage without a mic, and definitely the lowest I've ever sung in a group. and that really, is the problem. Im having tremendous difficulty finding my parts...I'm so used to just grabbing the top line, that's where my ear goes automatically...my notes to come in on are nowhere to be found in the accompaniment or anyone else’s parts, and I sing a whole section in like, parallel tri-tones with another character. It's 8 part harmony or something and no one is singing the same part...(except the two sopranos on the top line....grrr) It's going to be a great challenge, and the music will sound awesome when its done...just..grr...its hard to be an alto! Plus, I keep belting, because I'm trying to be loud, and its low, and I'm not 'properly' trained to sing that low...I guess that’s what my coachings are for!

The info session for Bat Boy went really well. There were TONS of people there most of them new, though we had returning people as well. There were guys too...lots! People seemed to like the synopsis and the music which is good...it’s a really hard show to outline to people without really scaring them away. I think we have a tech director too now, which is awesome, apparently he's very knowledgeable...which is great.
The Audition workshop is tomorrow night, or technically tonight, and I keep trying to make notes and get organized in my head for what I want to say/do, but its not really working. I’ve got some basic stuff to talk about and then I think a lot of it will be one on one answering questions and offering ideas, which should be good.

Why the spike icon when it has nothing to do with anything? Just because I like it...so there.
And its bedtime...yay for sleep!!

I bought a new fish today. I very carefully lugged him home with all of my groceries on the very full bus of smelly people and tried not to spill him. Which I didn't. So, I have a new Beta Fish. He is blood red and his name is Edgar. Two guesses as to where that name came from. I've never had a red beta before I've always had blue ones (giles, fish, wash...) so I thought it was time for a change. I kind of want a blue one as well...named Illyria, and they could be friends...or mortal enemies...whatever. The red ones are usually creepy and have weird creepy eyes, but Edgar is actually pretty...and doesn't look like an undead zombie fish. Which is a good thing!
A picture of Edgar will appear in the next few days I think.
ps. Batboy scripts and scores came in today! Which is exciting, but I'm slightly underwhelmed by the actual scripts/scores in terms of binding/packaging etc. I think I've been spoiled by MTI.

So today was our first official LMT meeting of the year. I think it went really well, I feel like we got a lot done with minimal fooling around and chatting, which is good. Im really excited about the club and the show this year. (particularly for Children children when people will have stuffed animals duct taped to themselves for a wild animal orgy represented through dance and roller skating.....no joke.) I'm less excited to start class tomorow..I'm just really freaked out that my course load will be to heavy, and no because of time commitments, more just amount of music that I'm going to have to learn. I didn't realize that for opera, on top of the actual stuff from the opera, we have to learn seperate arias. Yikes! But hopefully it will all be ok. And I'm really looking forward to Vocal ped, even if it is at 9:30 in the morning. Hoorah for first day of class tomorow...I should probably go to bed.

PS> HAPPY BDAY ALLY!!
