So LOVE AND WAR has come to a close. Which is good in a way because it means I have a second to breathe, and its bad because its probably the last show that the 'theatrerats' will do together. Especially the seven of us, who are the ones that have pretty much stuck around brockville in the summers, we're about all thats left, everyone else is in TO, not that I blame them. But it is pretty awesome to be onstage with all of your friends, and I'm definitely going to miss that.

We don't have final numbers yet, the arts centre is still crunching those numbers, but I'm just really impressed that we managed to produce a show at the arts centre. Im thinking we probably broke even, or very close which really, is a pretty good thing. It would have been nice to make a little money, but really we just didn't have the manpower. I mean, for sponsorship alone you really should have someone that can work on it like, 3 hours a day, just calling and calling until you get someone. I called a bunch of times but people were never available. I did manage to raise 1,400 in sponsorship, which isn't too bad for a first try.
Artistically I think the show went really well. We didn't have the audiences we wanted unfortunately but they were better than last year and they weren't dismal or anything. The lighting was beautiful, the sound was decent (only a few feedback issues, and thats not really our fault) the singing and acting was top notch (if I do say so myself). Its just so frustrating to have a great product and very few people coming to see it. Especially when a mediocre show can absaloutely fill that auditorium. Grrrr.... So Although I don't think I'll make any money off of it, it was still an awesome expereince in terms of learning that I should never attempt to produce a show basically on my own (Jess did help obviously, but with a full time job there was only so much she could do until the week of the show) especially when I have a full time job...because that was just dumb.

Speaking of my Job, camp went well. There was this weird and really annoyingly uncomfortable tension between some of the counsellors during the last two weeks. It was so weird, it was like we walked in monday morning of week four and everything had changed...for no reason. It was SO bizzare. But our show Music Man Jr. went really well. I was really proud of the kids (and the backstage counsellors....that was the most stressfull backstagbe show I've ever had in my life, the scene changes were INTENSE!!!) My end of camp performance review went really well, and If I'm going to be in b-ville next summer, I would most likely work there again. I taught private voice lessons to three of the campers as well, which was a fun way to pull in some extra money. We did a little recital at the end, I think the parents were happy with it.

Anyway, I'm going to head to bed as it is ridiculously late. and I'm quite sleepy.

So three weeks of camp are finished! Woot! This week was particularly exaughsting for some reason. Wednesday and thursday night I had serious trouble sleeping because I was SO exaughsted...I hate being overtired like that. Yeeps! But the Cabaret went well. Not super fantastic or anything but well enough. The parents really seemed to enjoy it and the kids had a good time which is the main thing. There is a whole new measurement for sweaty though. Cabaret sweaty is now totaly in its own category. We were all drenched, like soaking wet hair, even the little kids who don't normally sweat were soaked completely through. We had a dehumidifier in the proproom (which is the offstage area) and it read the humidity in the air as 98%, we emptied about three litres of water out of it after about three hours....it was that disgusting. Nasty. The only other time I can think of in my life when I was that sweaty was...well, last years Camp@GCC cabaret. That theatre is SO not meant to be used in the summer.
Something that I found kind of upsetting/annoying was that parents today don't seem to teach their kids how to behave in the theatre. All through the cabaret there were screaming babies, little kids sitting in and blocking the aisles, and small children climbing up onto our stairs/front of the stage...while people were performing. I had a scene where I was supposed to put my feet on the stairs and I coudln't because when I did, the little kid that was sitting there yelled NO NO NOOOOOO!!! so loudly that I just kept my feet on the stage. During our finale, I had to rip a little kids mouth off of one of our microphones sitting on the front of the stage..he was seriously sucking on it, and his parents, sitting in the audience did nothing. It was SO weird. Yes the parents pay a lot of money to have their kids in camp, and then 8$ for a ticket to the cabaret...but thats no excuse to possibly destroy equipment and make it so hard for the young performers to concentrate..it was just weird.
Anyway...Sponsorship packages went out for Love and War on Friday, so people/companys should be getting them by monday or tuesday. Hopefully we have some sponsorship soon. And I would really like the insurance guy to get back to me...I keep checking to see if he has a quote for me..its just taking SO long, i'm starting to freak out a little...oh well..hopefully early next week.
The Golf tourney is next weekend so we're cleaning up the house and getting ready. My grammie is down with us for the week, doing tons of laundry and generally being helpful. We're currently emptying tarahs' room so it can be painted and I can have her bed (I've been sleeping on a yucky futon) and she'll get a new one. Im excited!!

all right..that seems good for now
