So a week of relative craziness has come and gone. The whole weekend was Easter related activities, including a nice dinner and fun times with little cousins.
Monday night was fun LMT dinner at Mongolian, good times!

Tuesday was my skills performance exam, for which I had to use the paper because it was so damn hard! and I was REALLY freaking out that I had failed the course (and therefore, not earned my degree!) However, I did just get my skills mark back yesterday, and I did pass! (not even a D- a good solid D!!!) Hooorah! this means I get to graduate! yay!

Wednesday was my jury! eeeks! Stressfull! But it went pretty well and I had a massive sleep the night before (I actually got into bed when the clock still said..PM! shocking!) They didn't ask for one song that I actually really wanted to sing...but luckily it was one I was doing in my recital..so I did get to perform it. Even the crazy 20th Century piece that Heidi and I had never done without stopping and Lynda had never heard the accopmaniment for, went well. One small mistake where I had to slide up to the right note quickly, but other than that it was all good!

Thursday was my opera history exam, which I was FREAKING out about. However, I studied as much as I could (with less than 24 hours to study...I tend to take things like this one at a time, so when they're close together, it poses a problem for me...), and I think I did fairly well on the exam, and I got my paper back wiht a good mark, despite the fact that she personally disagreed with almsot everything I said. Ah well..the comments she wrote are hilarious! Some are helpful, some are just funny. (ie: puccini would role over in his grave~!) I spent thursday night making programs for...

MY RECITAL! was on friday. It wasn't just mine, it was Danielle and Angela as well. It was probably the most thrown together, fly by the seat of your pants recital ever in the history of Laurier, but thats ok. We actually managed to make 318 pretty, my mom bought tons and tons of flowers to make it look nice, we had fruit and goodies (some that my grandma made) and cheese and crackers and Punch! (we realized that none of us how to make punch..so I made up a punch recipe and everyone loved it...its very simple: Gingerale, Cranberry juice, frozen lemonade concentrate, frozen fruit...mmmm! mix in bowl...the end) My songs went well, I liked my dress and I wore my hairband with the fun feathery thing for my Weill song...it was very diva-ish..I enjoyed.

Close up of weird headband...weird or cool? You decide!

Me after the recital with flowers from my Grandmas and aunt!

All three of us afterwards...

My parents, sister, two grandmas, aunt and cousin were all there plus music student friends and LMT friends..so that was great! I felt good about my singing, particularly the Amy Cheney Beach songs...they are so fun! and are full of high notes! tee hee... It's funny, but a lot of my friends haven't heard me sing classical...and My family hasn't really either, for a long time, and never like this. So that was really exciting! Im excited to get the recording! yay! Ally and her boyfriend came up from Brockville/Montreal to see the recital...afterwards we watched her 'Little shop of Horrors' production from this year and my 'Bat Boy'. It was rather fun. I forgot how much I loved our show until I watch the DVD again..Im SOO proud of it, for myself and for the club and for everyone who worked on it..its just...amazing. And as many problems as we've had with exec...hearing about how allys theatre club is run makes ours sound like some kind of utopia... so that's always good to hear.

So now Im super exaughsted and should go to bed..though tomorow will be a day of lounging around and going to Lianes grad recital! yay!

So now I only have ONE more exam..EVER in my University career, and it's not for a week! I say party/packing time! yay!

What a crazy term...or half term. It is FINALY reading week! woot! It seems like it came on super fast (probably because I haven't really been doing much school work between Bat Boy and being super sick) and then this last week dragged out painfully slow. But its done. My ped journals went in two hours too late (stupid computer..crashing every five seconds...stupid blue screen of death!) and into the wrong mail slot...(how am I supposed to know there are two teachers named Carol...lol) but they did get handed in. Im doing my skills midterm after reading week because while trying to practice today I coughed so hard that I threw up. It was awesome. Luckily, my teacher was really nice about it (and probably didn't want me barfing in his office) and said I could try after reading week! yay! Now in terms of schoolwork I have this big looming essay of death, adn I think I'm going to change my topic, which doesn't really thrill me...gah!
In other news..I really really need this cough/cold/virus thingie to go away. I don't feel sick anymore, but I'm stuffed up and have a HORRIBLE cough (can't sleep and I threw up from coughing twice today..which is just..horrible and nasty) and its hard to sing. I can apparently sing really high (tried singing full out tonight for the first time in over two weeks...I hit the last note of phantom of the opera! yay!) and quite low, but anything in the middle range sounds like crap. And thats probably where all of my audition songs are going to sit...awesome. and I need to pick audition songs...AH! At least I'm going home for a week, I'll be pretty much glued to the piano as I have SO much music to make up learning, but it'll be nice to be home.
Valentines Day was fun. I thought it was going to be totaly uneventful, but Meagan, myself, mark, kale and ken went out for dinner, which was a lot of fun, despite the creepy waiter. Then all of us (minus ken, plus laura and michelle) went and played ping pong, watched the meaning of life and generally lay around chatting and laughing. (that's what SHE said...) It was good times. I still miss GCC valentines day, which was just so ridiculously fun...*sigh* ah well.
I have new hair! I finaly got up the courage to highlite it...red. And I avoided the word subtle, as every time I said that to Dan the change was pretty much unnoticable. Well..this is not subtle. My hair is super short (for me anyway, shortest its been since my mushroom cut in grade 2!) and very red. The highlites are really bright. But I like it...a lot. I had a bit of a panic attack when I first saw the colour (wet, it looks rather neon) but once it was done and dry I loved it! yay!
Anyway..its to packing with me... hoorah for being up late...I should also probably clean my room and my dishes before I leave....that is going to take a long time....
*sigh*

So its been a crazy couple of weeks!! Last weekend I woke up in the middle of the night with crazy stabbing chest pains and had to go to the emerge. Luckily, Laura is my hero and stayed with me the whole 9 1/2 hours, while we waited and waited and waited...and then I had to wear a stupid gown, and have stikcy things all over me for an ekg and wait and wait..and then have a doctor be really rude to me. gah! anyway, I'm fine now. They said at health services that they thought it was some sort of virus, which makes a lot of sense. but still, scary scarey...not fun at all. So I missed a lot of school last week, as I was too tired to even move, and my chest still hurt, it still hurts a bit occasionally but WAY WAY better than last week.

This weekend I went up to St. Catherines to have a birthday dinner with my nana. It was fun, we went to my uncles house and met his girlfriend Kelly who was really nice. It was a fun night full of drunken reminising by my dad and uncle and grandmother... good times. The next day I had brunch with Nana and Ralph (nanas husband, my step grandpa) my aunt and my cousisn, who I haven't seen in FOREVER! so that was nice. Then dad and Tarah drove me home and dad bought me a webcam! yay! and lots of tasty groceries. Hoorah for food!!

So now Im just trying to let my brain mush for an hour or so before I start my work. This week is INSANITY!!! Its choir intensive week, which means all choir, all the time, two hours mon-thurs, three on friday and I don't even know how many before the concert on saturday. Gah! I had my skills performance midterm today...I was mad, it went really badly. Even the parts that I was completely ready for. I had some sort of weird brain fart and totaly forgot how to sing a tonal line. Im crazy. Oh well, my solkatu stuff went well. Opera rehearsal tonight was really weird. Our director had some sort of miscomunication with The director of the program and had worked out all of the blocking for the wrong scene. the finale of Figaro instead of the act 2 finale. So we just sang through it a few times. But Lesley did give me a really great compliment! It sort of made my night. She said that I was outstanding (or some other glowing word) in the weill and she could listen to me sing weill all day. tee hee! I was like, yay..I like compliments...so that was cool. anyway...Now Im going to learn some rep..for my lesson tomorow..yeesh..Id been doing so well with staying on top of all that.
anyhoo...Im off!

So apparently I did not reach a whole new level of special by punching myself in the eye. I have an eye infection...(GROSS!) and I have drops to put in three times a day..plus this nasty antibiotic cream/gell stuff. Which I had to squeeze out (like caulking, said my doctor) into my bottom eyelid. But it didn't disolve right away, i had to roll my eye around and watch it jump up into the middle of my eye and then dissapear under my eye...it freaked me out. a lot. And I have to do it again...every night. yech.

So LMT voting is officially underway....Im SO nervous...but excited! yay. *waiting till sunday*

Play and sing tomorow...blah blah blah..i hate them. Im so terrible at it. grrr.

alright..bedtime it is.

So I havn't updated in pretty much forever.
Here is some fun stuff thats happening with me...

- The other day there were ducks everywhere on campus...I don't know why. I was walking home and there were two ducks on the sidewalk and no other people around...I wasn't sure if ducks attack like geese and swans so I was playing it safe and not trying to walk past them...eventually they looked at me..quacked...and waddled up the path to the house on the corner of the street...like they were going home...I felt sort of like I fell into Beatrix Potter world, except in waterloo instead of nice english countryside.

- Im going to audition for a movie! Thats right, a real live, big studio movie. They're holding open calls for a few of the roles in the movie adapation of the broadway musical HAIRSPRAY. (which...as a side note was originally a movie...its another movie-musical-movie thing...name the other recent one and get a prize...) Im auditioning for Tracy (16 year old, overweight girl with a big smile and a desire to be a dancing star) Im really excited. Even if nothing comes of it (which is likely since they've held open calls all over the place)I think it will be a good experience and it has forced me to get my resume in order.

- I won a prize today in my Evil and Its Symbols class. My prof actually brought in a bag full of prizes (like, pencils, post its, sharpies, a dilbert calendar...etc) and did a fun little quiz to get us thinking about how all of the course content was conected. I said that "evil is...Dracula" could be connected to one of the B movies we watched in which vampires are pretty much stand ins for drug dealers. So that was fun..I won a book called 'Good and Evil' by Martin Buber. good times...I like that class.

- I sang my canadian song "Green Rain" in Vocal lit and it wasn't terrible..one minor rhythm screw up..and my voice was scratchy on two entries, but no big deal. At least it's done. and I now have 4/5 jury pieces memorized and ready to go...YAY!

- I have a play and sing due tomorow that won't be ready due to memorizing one of my jury pieces, so Im going to take late marks and due it on friday.

- I got a card and some spending money from my Nana in the mail and that completely brightened my day!

- Its choir intensive week and my throat is all grumpy and tired.

and thats about it for now.
